Caramel Treatment Recipe

pic source
I'm sure I've mentioned my bestest and how she's natural, etc. Well she's been bugging me for the longest while to try the caramel treatment because she swears by it. I've put it off because I honestly had no interest. But eventually, after being pestered enough, I did it.

I kind of free-balled this version of the popular recipe for this treatment. I used 2 containers of Gerber banana baby food instead of actual bananas. I also decided not to use the cornstarch or the wheat germ oil. Also, I used quite a bit less of the other ingredients... about 1-2 tablespoons of each. With my length of hair, I made enough for two treatments (I froze the second half).

Because I didn't use the cornstarch, my mixture was kind of runny but I didn't mind... it was not messy and drippy once I put it on my hair, but then again I didn't just slap a whole bunch of it on my hair.

I applied the mixture in small sections (as I would a relaxer) from root to tip. As I was putting it on, I started worrying because it was making my hair feel kind of hard. I called my BFF in a panic and she reminded me that it was very sticky and that's why my hair was feeling like that. After placing it in context, I stopped worrying (so much lol). After I applied it to my entire head, I put on a shower cap and left it on my hair for about 2 hours without heat.

When I rinsed it out guys... it was HAIR HEAVEN! My hair was sooo soft and SMOOTH! I know it was from the ACV which laid down my cuticles nicely. And let me tell you, the smoothness lasted for a couple of washes.

I'm so mad at myself for waiting so long to try this, seriously. It was AWESOME and I recommend it highly (tho I can't guarantee anyone else's results, I can only share mine!).

BTW: I used this as my Moisture DC for this past week for my Decadent DC Challenge.
