Stretch it Out UPDATE

I'm still stretching, as I've stated before. One thing that has changed is that I've set a goal for myself. It's very ambitious, given my state of mind as far as my hair goes for the past few days but what the hell. My goal is to make it to 30 weeks post relaxer. That puts my relaxer date at February 13th, 2010! That date is about halfway through my 1st session of Bootcamp as well as my 3 in 3 challenge. I won't be flat ironing (because of the challenge rules!) but I'll rollerset so it will give me a good idea of the progress that I would have made by that point.

Like I said, this is going to be a true challenge because I'm ready to relax my hair as I type! The novelty of stretching is wearing off, I guess, and I'm getting bored with the limited styles that I can wear without heat. But my frustration could lie in the fact that my hair has not been behaving well lately.Whatever the case may be, I'm sticking this out until 02/13/10! I'm putting it out there in the e-world to hold myself accountable.

Now, a technique that I've learned since actively stretching my relaxer that I now swear by is deep conditioning the NG. That means applying the deep conditioner to my roots which involves sectioning my hair off as if I am applying a relaxer. Every time I employ this method, my NG is soft as butter, regardless (usually) of what I'm using as a DC. This also applies to when I use my water/glycerin/conditioner spritzes: I separate my hair and spritz directly on the roots.

Also, lately I've noticed that it's easier for me to detangle my hair. At the beginning of the thick of this stretch, it was always a challenge to detangle and I was losing a lot of hair, especially in the back (which was under-processed from my last relaxer). Primarily, I detangle my hair under running water while rinsing out my conditioner (or deep conditioner). The combination of the water and the conditioner provides an awesome amount of slip which makes detangling and getting out shed hairs much easier than before. The key (IMO) is letting the product sit on your hair and have a chance to absorb before attempting to detangle.

Last thing: lately, I've been noticing a sh*tload of single strand knots in my hair. I really need to figure out what is causing them before I have a setback... I'll update more on that after I figure out what's causing them.

So, that's all folks! Tomorrow, I'll post a personal update as there are going to be a few changes in my life coming up that may affect this lovely blog of mine.

Until then!
