Good morning ladies!! Hope everyone had fun over the long weekend!! I know I didn't, I was fighting a cold all weekend!
So today is my first real post for my "Unbe-weave-able" series... today, I'll chronicle MY journey of figuring out which type of hair to by for my sew-in...
I'm not sure if I said it before but this will be my very first weave install! I don't know about ya'll's cities but here in Atlanta, there are plenty of beautiful heads of weave walking around... but there's also a lot of BUSTED ones! And I don't want mine to be busted! Just because I'm PSing and hiding my hair doesn't mean I don't want to look cute doing it!!
So the first place I stopped to get the low-down on weave hair was the Weaves section of my favorite hair forum, Black Hair Media! When I say these ladies know their stuff, THESE LADIES KNOW THEIR STUFF!!! There are so many options for good quality hair out there: Wagmans, Indique, Extensions Plus and Halley's Curls (this is just to name a few, there are also the more elusive vendors that I have no info on, but with lots of research you can find them.)
However, since this is my first sew-in, I'm not sure that I think it's prudent to spend big bucks on hair... after all, while I plan to keep the sew-in installed for 6-8 weeks, I could hate it and want it off my head in 2. And I'm gonna be mad if I spent $200+ (for just the hair, not even the installation cost!!) for a two week install! So I decided to check out some of the "better quality" BSS (beauty supply store) hair... From what I found, some favorites included: IndiRemi by Bobbi Boss, Saga Remy by Milky Way, Bohyme (BoBraz is a fave of a lot of ladies!!) and Outre's Velvet line... (all of which can be found at various BSS and through online vendors).
In the end, after reading numerous reviews and watching infinite YouTube videos, I decided on Milky Way's Saga Remy Gold hair... because of the price (around $60 per pack for 12" hair... cheaper through sites like Amazon and E-Bay), as well as the reviews on the hair, it was the best choice... I won't be too mad if the quality is not as expected because I paid $80 for two packs of the hair (awesome deal on amazon, but I got 10" instead of 12").
All in all, if you're planning on getting a sew-in, choosing the hair is probably one of the most important decisions. Make sure to do PLENTY of research and be 100% comfortable with the choice that you make!
I hope that this was helpful to any of you ladies out there!!!
