Tag Time!

I'm a little late on the tag (LOL) but it originated with Miss Best Tressed over at My Healthy Hair Journey!

1. Why did you start taking better care of your hair?
I started taking better care of my hair when I realized it was possible for black women to have longer hair. I always accepted that my hair was going to be short for the rest of my life (it never even occurred to me to try to grow my hair out... wow...). So when I found sites like BHM and LHCF and saw regular, everyday women with loooong, pretty hair, I thought "Well, shoot, I can do it too!" and here I am!

2. What are your 2 favorite products?

HELTR and ORS Smooth and Hold Pudding (review coming soon!)

3. Who's hair did you admire as a child?

I'll probably say Tia and Tamara from Sister Sister!!

4. What is your ultimate goal length?

I'm starting to feel like Full BSL/MBL will be as far as I want to go...

5. How are you going to celebrate when you reach it?

Probably just by wearing it out alllll the time.

6. Two styles you want to try at your goal length?

I really want to try CurlFormers (if my hair isn't TOO long) and the perfect twist/braid-out (ulovemegz style!)

7. Which do you prefer: Health or length?

Health, duh!! =)

8. Which do you prefer: Hair ties with no metal parts, or butterfly clips?

Each has its place with me.... I prefer the look of clips better though... plus they are actually better for the hair IMO...

9. What products do you prefer: salon brands, organic brands, BSS brands or drugstore brands?

Whatever works!! haha

10. Which product/technique do you think is over-rated?

It might have run its course already but I always thought that the tangle teaser craze was a but much...

11. Which product/technique do you think is under-rated?

Stretching. So many people are scared of it but I have yet to have a setback from stretching

12. What is your favorite part of your hair regimen?

bwaaaahahahahahaha favorite?! LOL, J/K... when I feel like it, my favorite part is deep conditioning.

13. What is the most annoying part of your hair regimen?

Everything when I don't feel like it!

14. Oils or butters?

I prefer oils but I have used both....

15. Bun or ponytail?

16. Wig or weave (or neither)?

IDK...... toughie..... I think I like weaves better...... they force me to be consistent (I'm not gonna take it out before at least a month if I paid to install it!!)

17. What is your opinion on growth aids?

They work for those who can be consistent with them.... I have never been consistent with them but I don't feel like anyone NEEDS GAs.... your hair will grow with or without them if you keep your hair and scalp healthy. Retention is another story....

18. What length do you consider long?

BSL and longer... I used to think APL was but now that my hair is there it feels more like "medium" length... not short, not long...

19. When is the last time you've been to a salon?

Back in April when I got my last trim...

20. What do you like to surf the most: youtube channels, personal blogs or hair forums?

I look at blogs more than anything else.... forums when I'm bored, YT maybe 2-3 times a week.

21. And finally, what piece of advice would you give to someone just starting out their hair journey?

Be consistent! Don't give up!! Results won't come overnight but with time all the hard work will pay off!! =)

I tag everyone who hasn't done this tag!!

  1. Looking forward to the smooth and hold pudding review. Do you use it on your whole hair or just edges?

I also think the TT was a bit overrated...I fell in love with it at first but something just didn't sit right with me..

Love your advice...short and sweet haha

The products that I use are bought with my own money unless other wise stated and are for personal use. I am not paid to show any products on this blog! Results are on MY hair, but that does not guarantee that products/methods/techniques will work the same for you (though I HOPE they do!!) Happy Hair Growing!!
