Quickie: Today's Braid-out

To say that I have been in a styling rut would be a gross understatement. I have been wearing buns for 97% of the past 2 months!! Not even cute buns... straight up LAZY, "I didn't put more than 3-5 minutes' effort into this," IDGAF buns.

So I decided it's time to get out of this rut and try to "do" my hair more. So I did a braid-out for the weekend. I just snapped a quick pic of it a few minutes ago:

To achieve the style I braided my hair in 11 braids using Aphogee Keratin and Green Tea Restructurizer, Jane Carter Solution's Har Nourising Cream, Grapeseed Oil (to seal) and EVCO (to add some slip while taking them down).

I hope to get this set to last until Monday when I plan to co-wash and (hopefully) start preparing for my relaxer.

Hope you're having a good hair weekend!

  1. This is probably a "noob" question but what's EVCO? I love the braid-out. It gives your hair a soft, cascading texture and shape (without being super structured). And I kinda died @ the "...I didn't put more than 3-5 minutes' effort into this," IDGAF buns." mark LOL.

  2. lol its sad but true!! but thanks honey bun!!!

    EVCO= extra virgin coconut oil

  3. Why can't I achieve a good braid out anymore! Gosh yours looks good!

    It's funny; when I was "relaxed" my braidouts looked WAAAAAAY better than my twistouts and now that I'm natural, that has COMPLETELY switched

  4. You mentioned that you gonna co-wash. Do you ever shampoo/clarify the wash before your relaxer?

  5. @KT You know I have a similar issue in regards to length... when my hair was shorter twist outs looked amazing, now that its longer they look a hot mess...

    @SpecialK thanks girl! :)

    @MHHJ: every single time I relax, the very last shampoo (like 4-5 days prior to relaxing) I clarify. I am co-washing as my last wash before I prep for my relaxer.

  6. Gurllll, I completely feel you. All week I have been doing wigs. Not intentionally but because I just didn't do anything else. I swear I'm going to do something cute tonight.

  7. Hello friends,

  8. I love your braid-out. Did you braid your hair on dry or wet hair?
