Hair Update

If can can give one adjective for how I have been treating my hair since my last relaxer, it would be "abusively horrible!" I've flat ironed THREE times since 10/24 when I relaxed... (I think I've been in a "straight" phase because I am not feeling any other style but straight hair lately.)

With all that abuse, combined with the fact that I have not had a trim since April, I decided to trim my ends as they looked horrible (IMO!). Here's what it looked like before and after the trim:

I estimate that I trimmed about an inch, a bit more in some places... the trim is most noticeable in the front... but I'm not trippin', it will grow back and I want to maintain my ends at all costs!

For the rest of 2011, I plan to use only ONE heat pass, at the very end of the year for my end-of-year length check... until then I plan to roller-set weekly so that I can still enjoy my hair because come 1/1/12 I am going HARDCORE to reach BSL by May!

I look forward to the coming weeks to re-visit the hair plans I made at the beginning of the year to see how I stuck to them!

Do you guys find yourselves more attracted to straight hair styles in the winter or is it just me?

Hope you're having a great hair weekend!

  1. Your ends do look much better post-trim, but they weren't bad to begin with. I'm bad with eyeballing measurements but it looks like you have 2-3 inches until your grad goal? So do I! We're in this together :D

  4. LOVE the trim! And you know, I think bc I used direct heat more than usual this year that could've been part of my "thin" ends issue also. BSL by May! I'm witcha girl, May is my bday and I want to be swangin!

I totally am into straight(er) hair in the winter. I can't even imagine doing a flexi set in July! lmao! Rollersets are gonna be my friend me thinks ;)

  6. I'm normally attracted to straight styles in the winter also. To me they are easier to maintain in the winter for me. My new growth behaves better in the winter. Your hair looks great.

  7. @LaQT: Yes, in the winter, I guess because the air is more dry I rarely have to battle my NG reverting... it pretty much behaves.

  8. No, too lazy to straighten, I guess that's helped my retention.

I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of sad to see you cut, but it happens.
