Next day hair: Messy Side Bun

Since I am almost 12 weeks post, next day hair has not been my friend (SN: See my original rollerset here!)! Not sure if the amount of NG I have has anything to do with the fact that my next-day hair looks a hot mess but regardless...

This morning, I decided to put my hair in a low, side bun since yeasterday's curls were not cooperating.

Here is what my "style" looked like:

Am I the only one that struggles with next day hair with plenty of NG??

Questions? Additional comments? Email me at

  1. No, you are not alone. I struggle as well with the NG. But lately, I've just been let it do what it wants to do. I've been wearing buns since my rollerset as well and I'm not even close to 12 weeks post, lol.

  2. I don't rollerset so unfortunately I can't share any advice on the "next day hair" problem :( I just came to tell you that your bun turned out cute, if that helps lol!

  3. @Kim I'm glad I'm not alone!!!

    @Tay lol!! thanks girlie!!

  4. Girl, being 12 weeks post, I applaud you for even attempting to wear your hair out. I give up around 9-10 weeks and wig it! My ng does not cooperate for styling and I refuse to blowdry and flat iron you are NOT alone! The messy bun looks cute! I haven't perfected my messy look yet.

  5. You're not alone! I once did a roller set on 6 weeks post relaxed hair and loved it. However, the next day it looked like I never put a roller to my head. I agree with Ebony once I get around 6 to 8 weeks it's hard for me to wear my hair straight :/

  6. @ECP: Well, I will say that roller-setting gave me good, semi-straightened hair to bun with! But I am going to do a silk wrap probably on Wednesday to straighten the roots out and I will probably relax on the 23rd or the 26th (whichever works better for my schedule!)

    @Tiffany: this is really my first time attempting to wear my hair "out" consistently past 6-8 weeks post... I won't say it's a complete fail but... yeah! LOL.

  7. I've been wearing my hair in messy buns for the past week since taking my twists out. I can't wait to cut this sucker since I've been transitioning for 15months now.
