Quick Pic: 32 mins under the dryer?? #winning!

On Thursday night I did another mesh roller-set. This time, it was with the intention of doing a silk-wrap in order to ensure that my roots were fairly stretched out for my relaxer on 1/23 (Monday).

The first time I used my new dryer with mesh rollers, I estimated the drying time at about 30 minutes (read about that here!). This time, I purposely measured, to ensure that I had not exaggerated in my excitement! I went under the dryer at 12:23am and was completely dry at 12:55am. That's 32 minutes drying time--confirmed!

Anyway, here's a few pics from my set:

When I took the rollers down, I was in love with the loose curls (not so much with the puffy roots! I'm 12 weeks post, ya'll!) I decided to LIGHTLY iron out the ROOTS ONLY!

Remember, my intention was to do a silk wrap. So I wrapped my hair up that night and then in the morning used the saran wrap method to smooth it out a bit more... the results were a semi-fail... my hair was not as flowy and bouncy as I wanted (but then again I have a crap load of NG and I did not completely straighten the roots. Here are the final results:

I have to constantly remind myself that NG=the appearance of scraggly ends!!

In the end I pinned up half of my hair. The result was cute and my hair had that "thick" look to it (lol as I've gone deeper and deeper into my stretch I've had several people ask me if I'm natural, lol!).

Of course, my second day hair (today!) is a hot mess and has been placed into a bun!

What are you ladies doing with your hair for the weekend?

  1. Nice! Your drying time is soo fast! I usually take at least an hour. Your curls came out really pretty pre-flat iron.

Yesterday I did the Aphogee 2 Step protein treatment for the first time then deep conditioned with Keracare Humecto. It turned out pretty well. Today I just co-washed.

  2. Very Nice! I love how thick your hair is. I look forward to seeing your relaxer results.

  3. @Ally I am sooo scared of that 2 step! I've done it twice and only when my hair was CLEARLY over-moisturized! And the mesh rollers dry much faster than magnetics in my experience. To dry with magnetics, I think it would be about an hour for me too.

@OSHS: Thank you! Girl, I'm looking forward to the relaxer results too!!

  4. I really would like to see what your drying time is with Magnetic rollers! 30 mins!! Wow!

    1. I will set ny hair on Magnetics after my relaxer. Hopefully it will still be under an hour.

  5. 32 minutes... you are... going to... make me buy a new dryer... next week! Lol!

Your curls look so soft! I definitely have to remind myself that my different textures make my ends look "off" too.

Left my hair alone this weekend. M&S and applied Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum (love this stuff)

  6. Do you think the mesh rollers work better than the regular magnetic snap rollers?

  7. I never came across mesh rollers before. Do they have a smooth finish or are they rough to the touch?

  8. I look forward to my new dryer and being able to dry quicker. I've never used mesh rollers I assumed that the look wasn't as sleek as magnetic rollers. Your hair does look very thick. I too, have thin looking ends when it's time to relax.

  9. lmao @ all the "new dryer" comments! I feel ya'll tho, clearly!

ok shika...i tried to use my new mesh rollers and i felt friggin remedial. I really DO need a video tutorial. i got two in after trying so long that my hair dried out! then when trying to pull them taut my hair slipped deep into the grooves of the roller and when it dried it wasn't as smooth as yours! ugh! so I rollerset on my regular rollers and sat for the full hour. :( I want 30 minute drying time too!!! do you put your end papers on the roller or on your hair? HELPPPPPP!

    1. aww man! Okay, I'll try to do a video on how I do it probably when I do my relaxer. My BFF had issues with it too! It's so weird because I almost am ready to say I prefer the mesh rollers over the magnetic rollers...

Results are on MY hair, but that does not guarantee that products/methods/techniques will work the same for you (though I HOPE they do!!) Happy Hair Growing!!
