Lessons Learned: June 2012

Happy 4th of July! I hope you ladies are enjoying the holiday more than I am (at work!).

I decided that instead of doing my monthly goals posts at the beginning and end of each month, I will post the hair-lessons (big, small, funny, and tragic) for the month around the end of the month! This will be a bit of a change of pace, as well as a way to keep myself engaged with all the things I'm doing wrong and right so I don't make the same mistakes over and over again. So here we go.
    My IDGAF Bun
  1. My hair loves the KeraPro system... this realization did not come easy though. It was definitely one of those "you don't know what you have until you're out of KeraPro and your hair is revolting" things! (Don't know what KeraPro is? Check out these reviews: here and here.
  2. I am surely in a hair rut... IDK what it is but I've been wearing my IDGAF bun (pictured to the right...) for the past few weeks with only one or two days of spicing it up... I've committed to PSing this summer with bi-weekly "out" passes but that doesn't mean that I have to continue styling with boring, bland buns! (off to stalk Sharday's blog for some cute blog ideas!)
  3. Over-night (and all day the next day...) DCing with a light protein conditioner is just asking for a tangled, hard mess... yes, I definitely made that newbie mistake.. and let me tell you, it was a nightmare trying to get my hair untangled without losing a bunch of it... #neveragain
  4. I think I want to cut my hair off! No, seriously... I've given my hair until the end of the year to thicken up. If it doesn't, I plan on getting it professionally cut to a full SL "bob" with a few layers to give my hair some shape... I'm serious ya'll.
What lessons did you ladies leave the month of June with??

Questions? Additional comments? Email me at

  1. This month I have learned to just let my hair be! I've been keeping it simple, with bunning during the week and psing with half-wigs and wigs. This heat has made it very easy to keep it simple lol

Good luck on your healthy hair journey!

  2. I've learned to stick to what works. I've been on my hair journey for a year now and I've now realized that I have found some great products that work; no need to jump from product to product. I am still a little anxious to try Kerapro, but only once I'm out of my current conditioner. BTW, the Kerapro is on sale at Sally's.

  3. Those overnight DCs do me dirty as well. I'm not sure how others are able to sleep in the conditioner without getting tangles the next morning.

The products that I use are bought with my own money unless other wise stated and are for personal use. I am not paid to show any products on this blog! Results are on MY hair, but that does not guarantee that products/methods/techniques will work the same for you (though I HOPE they do!!) Happy Hair Growing!!
