One & Twenty's HYH Challenge + Personal Come-Back Challenge

Brittney over at One & Twenty is hosting a 1-year HYH (Hide-Your-Hair) Challenge. While I am not ready to commit to a full year of PSing (I miss my hair in these box braids already!!) I am committing to  hiding my hair and PSing until the end of the year. So... I will reveal my hair in it's (NOT big) chopped glory on 1/1/2012!!

Enter my plans for my personal Come-Back Challenge! It is my goal to be BSL by this time next year... so... by October 1st, 2013, I'm claiming that I will be Bra-Strap length!! But... how am I going to get there? Here's the subject to change plan...

From August 2012 until December 2012:

  • HARDCORE PS MODE!! Braids (which I currently have installed....), U-parts/Sew-ins (planned for October-December) and buns (to give my hair a breather between hardcore PS's) will all be utilized to allow my hair to grow, grow GROW!
  • Vitamins and growth aids!! I will be starting the Priteva Challenge when I take my braids out in October... additionally, I want to try Bee Mine's growth serum in conjunction with wearing the U-Part (since it will be soooo easy thoroughly to cleanse my hair on a regular basis).
  • BIG CHOP!! Don't be confused, I'm still a permie! In December, right before New Years, I plan on getting *snip snip, chop chop* action!
From January 2013 until October 2013:
  • Roller-setting queen is back!! Prayerfully Ebony over at Longing4Length will be hosting Part Deux of the L4L Roller-Setting Challenge! I will be participating in that until it gets too hot to roller-set my hair anymore (around May-ish)! My hair THRIVED when I was roller-setting it regularly!
  • HARDCORE PS MODE!! I will be utilizing braids, twists, sew-ins/U-Parts, and buns to protect my strands over the summer (when I typically can't be bothered with my hair ANYWAY [probably a contributing factor to my setback in the first place...]) and into the fall.
  • BSL BABYYY!! I WILL be BSL by this point... come hell, high water, WHATEVER!

  1. Great plan, you will def get some good results with these tactics :). I also find that rollersetting keeps my hair in much better condition for a longer period of time vs. just air-drying.

Btw, I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award! Love your blog, please do keep the good posts coming hun!

    1. ITA about roller setting! Air-drying too often leads to tangling/matting for me. And thanks for the VB NOM!!!!!!!!! =)

  5. I think I may have to follow this. I'm protective styling right now but still not ready to 'deal' with my hair so I'm doing another round of PS in a few weeks.

I can't wait to see your progress. If I decide to go all the way in with your plan I'll be sure to post on my blog too.

  6. What a game plan! I feel like I'm always protective styling, my hair is never out, except at home for a short time.

I've been alternating between braids, twists, and buns.

  7. So glad you're motivated to get back on track. Miss your hair pics. Can't what until you have the "swang" back! Sounds like a good plan. I am on a personal challenge as well, mainly low manipulation and bunning.I am in a serious race to BSL. Didn't know there's another upcoming RS challenge. I had already planned RS only for the next year.

  8. Hey girl!
I think I will rollerset weekly in between my twists to stretch my hair for the buns I'll be wearing!
I don't think I will reach BSL by October, but I am definitely looking forward to getting to APL again!
