Review: Exotic Hair LA U-Part Wig Cap

Adjustable strap in the back.

Full disclosure: Tess, the owner of EHLA, graciously provided me with the wig cap complimentary with my order.

Retail price: $25 or 2/$39 from ExoticHairLA.com

What they say: "...wig clips already attached and adjustable straps. Extremely sturdy. All you have to do is attach your hair and its set to go. The straps that go across should be cut before installation. They are only there to keep the shape of the wig."

Construction: The wig cap comes with three clips in the front and an adjustable strap to secure the back.
The original comb that detached.

My experience: This wig cap has a few pros and cons. I will say, it took me 4-hours to make the wig... it was very simple, just laying the tracks and sewing them down. The fact that I did not need to cut or measure the cap was a major positive! Additionally, I was a bit apprehensive about the lace at the front (I was afraid that it would rip while I was sewing on the tracks!) but it held up exceptionally.
However, there are a few things that I did not like about the construction of the cap. Many ladies are able to secure their wigs without combs/wig clips in the back (just the adjustable strap). Unfortunately, that did not work for me, I was scared I would lose my wig in the windy Atlanta fall weather!!! Additionally, after the first week, two of the three clips in the front fell off! (See photos I have attached). I ended up having to re-sew the existing clips and add one to the back of the wig... since I did that, the wig is much more secure than it was before!

The combs I used in the back.
Final Word: Overall, although I love the convenience of the cap (no cutting, no measuring!) and  sturdiness of the material, I am a bit disappointed with the fact that the clips came off and that the wig did not offer a comb/clip in the back. Additionally, the price of the cap, $25, is a bit excessive (although I am fully aware that you are paying a premium for convenience) Overall, however, I would purchase this wig cap despite the flaws that I have found simply because it makes the U-Part making process much easier than using other types of wig caps. I give the Exotic Hair LA Wig cap 3/5 stars.

Until next time,

Shika
