Shika, would you just relax already??

=)

Well... I haven't done my touch-up yet. I know ya'll are like "fool, we don't care anymore, just relax your dern hair!" but to be completely honest, it's the last thing I want to do in my free time! BUT... I will never ever put my relaxer process at the hands of another stylist unless I know (without a shadow of a doubt) that they won't mess my hair up!

So... I've decided to put off my touch-up until my winter break from school... that way I will have time to do it. For those of you who care to count, that's 35 weeks post!! That's 8 1/2 months post! My longest stretch ever was about 30 weeks. If I wait until my projected relaxer date (12/29/2012) I will be at almost 35 weeks post (why would anyone stretch that long unless they were planning to transition? Laziness Being busy, I guess!).

What's the longest time that you stretched? Why?

Until next time,

Shika

  1. I'm currently going through my longest stretch ever. I'm now at 15.5 weeks and I guess my next relaxer could possibly be at 20 or 21 weeks which works out to the end of finals. I'm so glad I got my hair braided because I was going nuts by week 9 or 10.

    1. 15.5 weeks is awesome! And yes, putting your hair away is the easiest way to avoid the stretching blues!

    1. Hey Bebe!

32 weeks?! That's amazing! You were more than halfway to the one-year mark! What made you want to stretch that long?

  4. My longest was 14 weeks. Now I have kinky twist in and I'm hoping to go for about 5 months.

    1. Having your hair hidden in the twists will make it super easy to get to five months!

  5. I feel you on not just letting anyone put a perm in your hair!

My longest stretch so far has been 11 weeks, but I'm currently a few days shy of 12 weeks post and I'm not sure when I'll relax yet. Hopefully in the next week

  8. My longest stretch was 38 weeks (just ended it a few weeks ago). The reason was because I was considering going for a full year and I got busy, but I changed my mind and relaxed.

    1. 38w was pretty darn close to a year though! I think being busy has had the opposite effect on me... I don't feel like relaxing my hair!

    2. Yeah, after I relaxed I kept thinking you should've went ahead and tried it. My cousin was encouraging me to do it, but maybe another time. There were days I didn't really feel like relaxing too!

  9. 12 weeks has been my longest stretch but the end of December will make 13 weeks if I can hold out! This is one part of the journey that has been a struggle for me. Thanks for the post (reminder). :)

  11. sorry shika, just saw your reply today.

uugh , i really dont know why i stretch so long. i only wanted to know if i can stretch for 26 weeks, then at 26 weeks post i didnt have a relaxer on hand so i had to stretch further. now i know that i CAN go for 32weeks. but i think i wont stretch that long in anytime soon again.
