2013--Goals, plans, and realities

Happy New Year!!!!

Well, it's that time of year again! Hair goals, hair plans, and hair realities! I don't even want to think about how I did on my goals for 2012 so it's onwards and upwards. The following are my goals for 2013... come hell or high water I'm achieving them!
  1. Relax no more than four times in 2013... while I don't plan on stretching for 30+ weeks in 2013, I do want to continue my 12-16 week stretches to maintain my hair's overall thickness.
  2. Trim as needed (every relaxer until I get rid of my thin ends!)--my length goal for 2013 is to reach full bra-strap length... I will not limit my trims but I do want to keep my scissor-happy tendencies in check!
  3. Keep direct heat usage to a minimum-- only one (optional) direct heat pass a month
  4. Continue on with Project Use it or Lose it. By 2014 I want to ensure that my stash is comprised of mostly staples with only a few PJ buys (because it's the opposite now!)
  5. I sound like a broken record every year but in 2013 I really want to try to be more consistent with my regimen... usually when life gets hectic, my hair regimen takes the first (and biggest) hit...
  6. Vitamins and water will be the theme of the year... I aim to take my vitamins (including a multi-vitamin) and drink at least 2L of water daily!
These are my overall goals; throughout the year there will be other, smaller goals (e.g. PSing for XYZ amount of time, rollersetting for ABC amount of time, etc).

What are your 2013 hair goals?

Questions? Additional comments? Email me at

  1. My goal is to be BSL by summer and MBL by the end of 2013.

  2. My hair goals is the post I need to get up. If only I could tame my PJ ways. LOL

  3. Those are great goals. I thought about limiting my touch ups to only 4 per year as well. Good luck!!

  4. I really like how realistic you are in setting yourself up for success!
My only hair goal is to take a multivitamin everyday and continue to love it as it grows back out. The former LHCFer underneath it all wishes for APL again by the end of the year, but the TCMer in me really just wants to grow, however slowly, until I can make it to Teri Laflesh's length, which will probably take 10-15 years considering the fragility of my hair (but that doesn't sound all that encouraging, so I'll just stick with multivitamin and making sure it's growing in healthily... lol).
    Good luck!

  5. Just came across your blog...all awesome goals!!

  6. That sounds like my goals as well. I want to be MBL by Dec. I'm currently BSL. I need to drink more water. I do well with taking my vitamins. I hope we all achieve our goals this year.

  7. Good luck! You are well on your way! =)

  8. Well hurry up and post it! And girl, if we could ALL curb those PJ tendencies...

  9. Thank you, good luck with yours as well!

  10. LOL I try... I'd rather aim low and achieve higher than disappoint myself by aiming too high.

And your hair grows so fast! I think it's quite possible for you to be APL by the end of 2013!

  11. Good luck to you !
My biggest issue is that i'm not drinking enough water. i need to start working on that , asap !

  12. I like your 2013 goals. Very realistic and relatable. After reading them, I want to do the same for 2013, lol. Good luck to you! I'm sure you'll be successful.

  13. Very nice and doable goals!! I just finished jotting mine down and I've also started taking multivitamins. Good Luck!

  14. Nice goals! I think I shall follow suit and create a list. I want to relax only 4 times also.

  15. Hmm, perhaps I should focus on setting actual goals so I know what I'm aiming for. Can't wait 'til we hit BSL!

  16. Checking out your blog! =) (best of luck with your goals as well!)

  17. I think every 16 weeks is the perfect amount of time for me to stretch... any longer and my NG becomes out of control...

  18. MAn!! Me either!! BSL here we come!
